About Us
The Office of the Auditor-General is a constitutional institution charged with ensuring public funds in Adamawa State (both State and Local Governments) are used responsibly, ethically, and in line with established laws and standards. Operating under the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended) and Adamawa State audit legislation, we conduct independent audits, provide assurance on the financial statements of government agencies, monitor government expenditure, inspect public projects, certify pension and gratuity files, and enforce accountability. With the recent legislative reforms granting financial autonomy to the office, we are better positioned to act impartially and strengthen our oversight mandate. Our work is guided by the Nigerian Standards on Auditing (NSAs) and International Standards on Auditing (ISAs)
Our responsibility involves auditing in accordance with Nigerian Standards on Auditing (NSAs) and International Standards on Auditing (ISAs). Those standards require that we comply with ethical requirements and plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements of the State are free from material misstatements.
